Coiled Paper Jewelry

** Please read the vaccination requirements at the bottom of this page before registering for this program **Join Orillia artist Gayle Schofield for a fun afternoon crafting jewelry from recycled paper. Gayle will show you her coiled paper method of rolling newsprint into coils and transforming those coils into unique, eco-friendly wearable art that is as functional as it is beautiful.Please note that although you do not require any experience to participate in this workshop, you will be using a small tool and repetitive small movements with your hands.About the Instructor: Artsymania is the creative handle of local Orillia artist, Gaye Schofield. Gayle works in acrylic, mixed media, and paper. She is influenced by her experiences and the people around her and has been creative all her life, following in the footsteps of artistic members of the family. She is inspired by colours and textures, frequently experimenting with abstract interpretations and a mix of elements. Her artistic journey has also taken her into the wonderful realm of paper - torn paper, paper coiling, and paper maché! Gayle has been a participant in several of the Orillia Streets Alive Festivals, and the Orillia Starry Night Studio Tour. Once part of the artist-run Zephyr Gallery, she continues to be a member of the group of artists who carry on the legacy and display work around the community in various pop-up exhibits. For the past several years she has been the “resident artist” at Tiffin’s Creative Centre.  Gayle's work is currently on display at Hibernation Arts.Cancellation Policy: Cancellations made 7 days or more in advance of the event date will receive a 100% refund. If a cancellation is made 7 days to 48 hours in advance, a full credit toward another class or event will be issued to your account. A credit will not be issued to cancellations that are made within 48 hours of the event, but your ticket may be transferred to a friend. If a class or program is canceled or postponed a full refund will be offered.Prefer to register and pay in person? Not a problem! Come into Creative Nomad Studios and we will get you all set up. We are located at 23 Missisaga Street W, Downtown Orillia. Our current hours are Monday - Friday 9 am - 5 pm.** Vaccination Requirement **As of September 22, 2021, Participants will need to be fully vaccinated (two doses plus 14 days) and provide their proof of vaccination along with photo ID, as per the Government of Ontario regulations.Individuals who cannot receive the vaccine due to medical exemptions will be permitted entry with a doctor’s note until recognized medical exemptions can be integrated as part of a digital vaccine certificate. Children who are 11 years of age and younger and unable to be vaccinated will also be exempted from these requirements.Individuals can provide proof of immunization by downloading or printing their vaccine receipt from the provincial booking portal, or by calling the Provincial Vaccine Booking Line at 1-833-943-3900
