Urban Landscapes with Murray Van Halem

Murray is a Canadian landscape artist and portrait painter working in oils. A graduate of Montreal’s School of Modern Photography, he began his career as a large-format commercial photographer and worked as a photojournalist, portrait photographer, magazine editor, writer, and real estate broker. Murray now explores light, form, and space through paint.Workshop OutlineWorking from reference photos that may be your own or ones that the Instructor supplies, we will be reviewing and utilizing a variety of painting elements including principles of perspective, design, colour theory & colour mixing.  We will also be discussing the variety of elements of urban landscapes to include these fun items in our paintings;  cars, people, streetlights, utility poles, wires, etc. There will be a break for lunch during this full-day workshop. You are welcome to bring lunch with you or pop out to one of the many local cafes to pick something up. Our catering kitchen is equipped with a fridge and microwave if needed.Required Materials (Not provided. If a cancellation is made 7 days to 48 hours in advance, a full credit toward another class or event will be issued to your account. A credit will not be issued to cancellations that are made within 48 hours of the event, but your ticket may be transferred to a friend. Our current hours are Monday - Friday 9 am - 5 pm.** Vaccination Requirement **As of September 22, 2021, Participants will need to be fully vaccinated (two doses plus 14 days) and provide their proof of vaccination along with photo ID, as per the Government of Ontario regulations.Individuals who cannot receive the vaccine due to medical exemptions will be permitted entry with a doctor’s note until recognized medical exemptions can be integrated as part of a digital vaccine certificate. Children who are 11 years of age and younger and unable to be vaccinated will also be exempted from these requirements.Individuals can provide proof of immunization by downloading or printing their vaccine receipt from the provincial booking portal, or by calling the Provincial Vaccine Booking Line at 1-833-943-3900
