One of the most common questions I am asked is "What brush should I use?" Sometimes it doesn't matter and you use the one that "fits" the area size you have to paint, and other times it matters immensely which brush you use and HOW you use it.

This workshop is for the Intermediate or Advanced painter who already has a handle on their art. We will look at the anatomy of a brush, the most common shapes and sizes, the strokes and uses of each shape, how to properly load your brush for each type of stroke, proper brush care, and so much more!

We will also cover different acrylic paints, working with various paint bodies, blending mediums, and brands.

The first 3 weeks will be ‘technical’ work with optional ‘practice’ time in between classes. Week 4 we will put it all into play and create a small painting using the new skills we have learned.

Max class size 10: All materials and brushes included (artist quality brushes and paints will be provided for in class use)

4 weeks x 2 hours/week, held on Thursday afternoons from 1-3pm $165.00 per person

About the instructor: Anitta Hamming is a Canadian self-taught artist who has spent much of her life painting and often chooses the 'everyday' as her subject matter. In 2015, she relocated to Orillia and has been Internationally applauded for her recent "Intoxicated" series. A juried member of the International Guild of Realism, the Federation of Canadian Artists as well as the Ontario Society of Artists, her paintings can be found in private collections around North America.

All of her original work explores her joy of realism, light, movement, and energy. When asked about her inspiration and focus, she said, "I am always looking for the beauty, moods, spirituality, and metaphors in simple things. I love the ordinary things. I seek to emphasize rhythms, lines, patterns and colours to express my connection to the everyday world around me. My best hope is that the images stand simply on their own, and find similar connections in the viewer."
